When Dungan Nequette Architects came to us with an interesting request, we were all in. As part of their Club House design for The Cottages of Baton Rouge, they also offered the services of their uber-creative graphic-artist partner, Chad Martin (from TheG Brand ) for the signage.
The special request to us was the production of Chad’s “signs” at a museum-quality level. We were excited.
It’s called giclee. It means the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. Basically, it’s printing on media canvas or fine art paper using archival ink with acid-free archival-quality coating too. It’s the snobbiest of printing quality, and we’re fortunate enough to be one of only two printers in Alabama to offer giclee printing.
What came out pleased us all. Including the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Birmingham Chapter who chose Alabama Graphics for one of their 2010 “Excellence in Construction” awards for our work on this project.
The judges scored our submission a perfect score! Truly a 100 out of 100 possible points. We’re blushing. And oh so pleased to have been able to augment the ingenuity and artistic talent of Chad and Dungan Nequette at the level of quality they asked for and deserved.
Now take a close look at the photos. Chad’s work for the signage of this stylish clubhouse designed for college living will definitely make you smile. The bathroom one with the gushing pipe and kids in obvious bladder distress will have you laughing as you leave the room in need of a potty break yourself.
A very special thank you to our stellar staff of Sheila Caddell, Michele Dunn and our production staff. They recognized the uniqueness of this project and submitted it for the award. They jumped through hoops, untied numerous knots, and, we even think, stood on their heads to comply with all the necessary minute instructions of the submission.
You’ll see Michele in the photo holding the award (presented at the banquet in Birmingham). To her left is Chad Martin and on her right is pressman Chris Cook.
