AAF + AIGA Birmingham September Luncheon

AAFBeing a part of events in Birmingham and meeting not only the advertising professionals, but the eager-to-learn students throughout the area, is something we thoroughly enjoy. While being headquartered in a community with an abundance of bright and creative minds, it’d be a shame not to get out and get to know them!

That’s exactly why we wanted to sponsor the American Advertising Federation (AAF)-Birmingham’s September Luncheon.

AAF Birmingham partnered with The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Birmingham Chapter for their luncheon on Friday, September 26th at Vulcan Park and Museum. The guest speaker was none other than the President of Design at Sterling Brands and President Emeritus of AIGA, Debbie Millman.

It was an honor to sponsor this luncheon and support AAF’s mission to promote excellence in advertising through “professional education, networking, community service, ethics, quality and creativity.” We also strongly support their 2014 goal to give more scholarship money to student ADDY winners, while continuing to represent the advertising community on government issues that affect the industry.

At the luncheon, Debbie Millman’s speech was titled “On Rejection: How the Worst Moments of Your Life Can Turn Out To Be the Best.” She was an excellent speaker that had an excellent message for all the attendees of the event. Debbie shared the ups and downs of her career and insight on how the worst moments in life can actually become the most profound and life affirming.

We greatly appreciate AAF Birmingham and the AIGA Birmingham Chapter letting us be a part of this luncheon, and encourage everyone in, or looking to get in the Advertising or Graphic Arts industry, to consider joining these organizations.
