If you’ve been by the historic 4th Avenue Business District lately, you may have noticed the full window perf graphics outside the Carver Theatre. Our Account Executive, Robert McCary has been working with them to utilize the empty window space on the front of the building.
It was a pleasure working with Leah Tucker at the theatre, and it was a great opportunity to learn more about its rich history. Did you know that it was built in 1935 and was redesigned ten years later to include the most modern features of the time?
At the time, those features included theatre chairs, air conditioning, sound and projection. Then in 1990, the City of Birmingham renovated the Theatre and turned it into a performing arts theatre and the home of the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame and Museum.
To this day the theatre runs as a non-profit, multi-use community theatre that’s open for booking by local and national groups. It’s not only a popular venue for local jazz artists, but also for local comedy and the spoken word scene.
These window perfs were installed just in time for the 16th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival, giving ideal space for the Carver Theatre to promote festivals, classes, and other upcoming events, without sacrificing visibility from inside! What a great way to turn their windows into prime advertising space!
Below are pictures of the finished project.
