Lauri Newton, our account executive, has been working with an organization that we truly love and strongly support, called Kulture City. They’re on a mission to do away with the societal limitations placed on autistic children. Their goal is to provide support for autism families and help their children reach their full potential in their abilities and talents.
While only being in existence for one year, Kulture City has already begun doing great things around the Birmingham area. One of our favorite projects of theirs is their introduction of the sensory box to restaurants around the community.
After the founder of the organization, Julian Maha, went out to eat with his child, who’s autistic, he got the idea to create a sensory box. The sensory box is full of different toys that an autistic child can play with while out to dinner with the family. It contains textural toys, noise canceling head phones, and an iPad with games for children with a visual need.
One of the first restaurants to join the cause was Post Offices Pies. They immediately jumped on the idea when Kulture City first came to talk to them about the project. Now many other restaurants in the Birmingham Metro have also jumped on board.
We love being a part of this great cause and strongly support all of their efforts. All of us here at Alabama Graphics look forward to working more with Kulture City and helping them to spread their message.
